Much has been written about the origin of the situation in Palestine and Israel. From Napoleon over Lord Balfour to the Nakba: the more you try to grasp history, the faster it escapes. In Décris-Ravage Jewish actress and director Adeline Rosenstein attempts to explain the situation in six chapters. Her historicizing approach, starting in the year 1799, is both enlightening and doomed to fail.
Rosenstein is a global citizen with a passion for documentary theater. Along with five companions and the audience she goes on a pursuit of the ever escaping truth. Décris-Ravage is teaching, testifying, reading, translating and discussing the translation. Perspectives shift, relativism dissolves. What remains is intelligent, tender and humoristic theater, unique in its kind.
Adeline Rosenstein, originally from Switzerland, studied in Jerusalem and Berlin, worked in Buenos Aires and currently lives in Brussels. In her work she focuses on current socio-political situations such as asylum seekers and women's rights. Her latest show - Décris-Ravage - was released as a comic book in 2016, by Atrabile publishing.
This show is a copresentation in cooperation with Vooruit Ghent.
