Jamie Man

Jamie Man 文珮玲 (London, 1987) is an artist whose work is primarily concerned with music and the poetic mystery of what we are. 

PLAY: Episodes in Subspace, commissioned by the Gulbenkian Music Foundation (Lisbon) was the first of her operas created specifically for concert hall staging and premiered in 2016 . Jamie was a Sound and Music embedded composer with The Mahogany Opera Group (London, 2013-15), ENOA Artist-in-Residence at LOD Muziektheater (Ghent, 2018) and Soundhub Composer with the London Symphony Orchestra (London, 2018-9) mentored by Heiner Goebbels, developing her series of installation performance works entitled Outrenoir with the light artist Ben Zamora. 

Jamie is currently creating a new staged work for forty-four musicians commissioned by the Théatre du Châtelet (Paris) and Orchestre de Chambre de Paris who she will also be conducting in Gustav Mahler’s Blumine in 2020. 

In October 2021, her new chamber opera ZELLE: Wenn es dunkel wird, for which she joined forces with the Swiss author and librettist Peter Stamm, premiered at deSingel in Antwerp.
