Desktop art, riot grrl music & medieval literature

Joan of Arc, Hildegard of Bingen, Christina the Astonishing and Christina of Bolsena, four saints from the Middle Ages who met a very unpleasant end. In ‘Submission Submission’, dancer-poet Bryana Fritz – who was also present at WOMEN AND CHILDREN FIRST 2020 - portrays these women in a collage of desktop art, tongue-performance, feminist riot grrl music and medieval literature.

In ‘Submission Submission’ Bryana Fritz is an amateur hagiograph, a biographer of saints. Through digital laptop poetry Fritz unravels the convoluted lives and deaths of four unfortunate women. A unique performative dialogue with the audience that invokes these saints in physical and digital form.
