Frederik Neyrinck

The Belgian composer and pianist Frederik Neyrinck (°1985) studied piano and composition in Brussels, Stuttgart and Graz with Piet Kuijken (piano), Jan Van Landeghem, Marco Stroppa and Clemens Gadenstätter (composition). He visited also different composition courses and masterclasses like the "Ferienkurse für Neue Musik" (Darmstadt), Acanthes (Metz), Impus (Graz), Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Opera Days Rotterdam, ENOA,...

He has worked with various ensembles and soloists like Klangforum Wien, Asko|Schönberg, National Orchestra of Belgium, Ensemble L'Itinéraire, Nadar Ensemble, Bozzini Quartet, Neue Vocalsolisten, Gulbenkian Orchestra Lisbon, Schola Heidelberg, Oxalys Ensemble, Schallfeld Ensemble, Noise-Bridge, Flanders Symphonic Orchestra, Teresa Doblinger and Jan Michiels.

His works have been performed at festivals and cultural centres such as TRANSIT Leuven, November Music Den Bosch, Gaida Festival Vilnius, Festival Manca Nice, Concertgebouw Bruges, BOZAR Brussels, De Link Tilburg and Forme Uniche di Continuità nello Spazio Melbourne.

He is the resident composer and one of the founding members of the Odysseia Ensemble, a Belgian chamber music ensemble and he was involved in TIK TAK TOE, a biennial festival for “recent” music organized at the art gallery D’Apostrof in Meigem. As a pianist, he is member of the Platypus Ensemble, an ensemble for contemporary music in Vienna. He performed with them a.o. at Konzerthaus Vienna, Gustav Mahler Musikwochen Toblach, Wien Modern and during the project "Re:construction" in Tokio.

Frederik Neyrinck is an artist in residence at LOD since 2014. Through several enoa workshops he composed the music for Zolang hij niet zichzelve kent, a performance by Josse De Pauw and Koenraad Tinel which premiered in April 2018 at Concertgebouw Brugge. In 2018, he composed the music for i c o n, directed by Atelier Bildraum (Steve Salembier & Charlotte Bouckaert). In 2022, Rhapsody premiered, for which he again joined forces with Josse De Pauw.

In January 2024, the new LOD production Love Doll playing with the big boys in a different kind of space, will premiere. Frederik Neyrinck composed the music of this new piece by Lies Pauwels, performed live by four musicians of B'Rock Orchestra and saxophonist Bertel Schollaert.
