RHAPSODY: THE MUSICALITY OF THINKING MINDS

“Tell me what makes this life worth living”, that's how Wim Kayzer started his conversations with artists, scientists and philosophers in his television series Van de schoonheid en de troost. After revisiting the series from 2000, Josse De Pauw knew: "I want to do something with this". De Pauw brings the stream of thoughts of Jane Goodall, George Steiner, J.M. Coetzee, Karel Appel and Edward Witten into a remarkable concert with spoken word. Sometimes hesitant and stumbling, sometimes spontaneous and determined. LOD-composer Frederik Neyrinck provides these five different voices with a singular composition. Rhapsody is a whimsical performance, an ode to thinking, doubt and not knowing, because you don't always have to understand everything to feel that it's about something important.

Rhapsody marks Josse De Pauw's seventieth birthday and his fifty-year career on stage.
