Zonsopgang met Jazzlab

Young saxophonist Lennert Baerts, not long ago one of Klara's De Twintigers, is one of the most prolific and inspiring jazz musicians of his generation. In early 2023, he impressed with I Choose Not To, the album he released with Profound Observer, a trio that immediately conquered its own niche with a sound rooted in the jazz tradition but resolutely seeking freedom and innovation. For their tour, they joined forces with Belgian jazz legend Bert Joris. One of Baerts' regular partners in that band is Vitja Pauwels, the ubiquitous guitarist who made a name for himself with Bombataz, Naima Joris and Lara Rosseel, among others, but who also put together a beautiful solo album: Drift By / Sink In. Now, for the first time as a duo, they delve into the material of I Choose Not To, but also present some new music, with that balance of intimacy and inventiveness that has become their trademark.
