Belgian architect Karel Burssens makes dancer Tarek Halaby dance with a machine, literally. A rotating machine is fixed to the ceiling. Through repetition this installation defines the rhythm, space and lighting, but also the movements of a dancer. This dancer will confront the moving sculpture to redefine the relationship between man and machine.

Burssens pushes alienation in the direction of poetry. The rapid evolution of technology in our ever-changing world forces man to continuously adapt himself. Currents unravels this vulnerable position humans find themselves in. How do we deal with these changes? How do we continuously find a new balance within our own environment? A performance that fits perfectly in the context of Festival van de Architectuur.
